Tower Crane For Twin Towers: The Construction Secret's Revealed

There are buildings that are known all over the world because of its unique constructions. Maybe you are familiar with buildings consisting of two very tall structures popularly called as twin towers. And by simply looking at these structures, you will wonder how these were built.

There is no magic in the construction of twin towers since tower crane are already available. This modern construction equipment makes the work easier for building such magnificent structures which includes the following:

Tower cranes are being fixed on the ground where it provides the perfect combination of lifting capacity and height appropriate for tall building constructions. It saves space and provides stability when its vertical part is braced in a completed structure which becomes the normal concrete lift shaft at the building's center. Then it is balanced by a horizontal boom placed asymmetrically across the tower's top. A slewing bearing is used to mount the boom where it is being rotated by a slewing motor. Below the horizontal boom is the operator's cabin. The short arm of a tower crane carries concrete blocks serves as counterweights while the lifting gear is carried by the long arm of a tower crane. The tower crane's lifting hook uses a pulley system.

The lifting hook is typically equipped with safety latches preventing disengagements of chain, rope, or lifting wire. A pulley holds the cable or rope and reduces the amount of needed force when lifting a load. Pulleys are wheels having grooves across its edges. More wheels make it less efficient since more friction is produced between the wheels and the rope.

Telescopic cranes are used to assemble tower cranes. Telescopic cranes have smaller capacity for lifting loads however, it provides greater heights. Thus, this smaller crane is used in dismantling tower cranes after constructing very high twin skyscrapers.

A tower crane is handled by a certified tower crane operator which can operate the equipment in two ways. He can either sit on the cabin at the tower's top to control it or just stay on the ground by using a remote control radio.
